    Putin signs property confiscation law

Vladimir Putin has signed a law that will allow the Russian authorities to confiscate property, money and other assets from people convicted of spreading "false information" about the country's military.

The new confiscation law would also apply to those convicted of publicly inciting "extremist activities" and calling for actions harmful to state security or "discrediting" the armed forces.

Discrediting the Russian military became a criminal offence after Moscow sent troops into Ukraine in February 2022.

If someone is convicted under the new law, only money, assets and property "gained through criminal means" or used for activities against Russia's national security could be confiscated, Russian state news agency TASS said.

mind you .....it's hard to discredit the russ military after their showing in Ukraine more than they have disredited themselves against a much smaller much much less weaponised country with hardly any air force and no navy !
