No side can go on attack in current climate, Ukraine due to ammo/weapons shortages and Russia due to incompetency. Russia took 5 months to capture the encircled town of Avdivka losing 600 vehicles, over 15,000 men, many planes and did it with endless glide bombs and meat waves. Russia cannot beat Ukraine, without glide bombs and glide bombers will burn like hell to Patriot attacks in open terrain, just like in the South.

They cannot chase out UAF, fighting without heavy gear, from Dnepro bridge head, cannot get to Kupiansk with 100,000 men and 500 tanks and were repeatedly obliterated at Vulhelar in open terrain. Their best commander captured Bakhmut sacrificing 70,000 men and now UAF slowly taking it back. Back in Russia, limbless men crowding public places, hospitals overwhelmed to treat the injured, Inflation rising, Ruble sinking, Oil depots burning and local governments got no money to repair utilities ensuring another freezing to death winter.

Two of the three 'one-on-one' wars Russia lost in the 20th century were due to economic reasons. This ain't gonna no different IMO.
