Finland's prime minister says Russia is "evidently" preparing for a "long conflict" with the West - but it is not "invincible".
Petteri Orpo has been speaking to the European Parliament today about the importance of bolstering the country's security and defences, after Vladimir Putin vowed to send troops to the Russia-Finland border in response to Finland's accession to NATO.
The Russian leader said in an interview that the accession was "an absolutely meaningless step from the point of view of ensuring [Finland's] own national interests" (more details in 7.28 post).
Russia is "evidently preparing for a long conflict with the West," Mr Orpo told MEPs, but added: "Russia is not invincible."
He also accused Russia of "weaponising" migration against Finland and hit out at Moscow for "pushing third country nationals towards our eastern border" in an "unacceptable" move.
