It doesn't justify anything.

But there's a cause and there's an effect.

If there was no US-backed coup - Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea wouldn't have separated themselves from Ukraine. And there would have been no war.
Shoulda-woulda coulda.

But the coup happened. Democratically elected Ukrainian government was removed in an unconstitutional manner. Whatever's happening in Ukraine now is a direct result of the coup.
