At least 20 now dead after attack on Odesa

The number of people killed in Russia's missile attack on Odesa has now risen to at least 20 (see 12.21 post).

A paramedic and an emergency services worker were among those who died, while at least 75 people were injured, the regional governor Oleh Kiper told national TV.

At least 10 houses in Odesa were damaged by the Iskander-M missiles, according to Mr Kiper.

After the first missile hit homes, a second missile arrived, targeting first responders who had come to the scene to help victims.

The technique of firing a second missile at the same location is known by the military as a double tap. It is aimed at hitting rescuers and other civilians.

Moscow has repeatedly claimed its forces do not target civilian areas, despite evidence to the contrary.
