The ABC has copped heavy criticism from the Embassy of Ukraine in Australia after Four Corners aired a controversial documentary that offered a “human perspective on life on the Russian frontline”.
Vasyl Myroshnychenko, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia, labelled the program Ukraine's War: The Other Side the “journalistic equivalent of a bowl of vomit” in a passionate and scathing statement on Tuesday.
“It unquestioningly repeated and aired countless blatant lies, historical distortions, racist claims and propaganda narratives emanating from the Kremlin,” Mr Myroshnychenko said.
“It completely served the interests of Russia’s dictator, Putin.”
comment from the radio news segment and from the uke ambassador (??) was that the abc news coverage had been fair ... mmm that would be fair from the point of view of ukrainian propaganda ..
watso's idea of fair .. would be total impartiality .. but the abc (and their broadcast partners . the bbc) have pedalled the narrative of st poots bad, russia bad blah blah .
who can forget stan grant (and on the abc's Q&A show) evicting a guy who wanted to ask a pre-approved question - and wanting to put the russian side..
then there was sarah henderson (7.30 report) who obviously tried to big note herself - and told the russian ambassador "well enough of the propaganda.."
comment was made that we should not give russia a platform .. the same for iran ..
if our media do not give both sides - then we do not have a free press ..
the majority of australians would not remotely know the history of the ukraine conflict .. all that they would know was the lie about russia's full scale invasion - and brave ukrainians fighting for democracy/freedom - led by their heroic leader zels
