Most autocrats make silly decisions because they dont take no for an answer. Putin was told casually by Spy chiefs Botnikov and Narushkin that Kiev could be taken in three days ,probably over 2 or 3 Vodka's. When crunch time came in a meeting they could not reject it for the fear of going to Gulag. So we are still in his 3 days war.
