This war was never about NATO. Russia has never and will never be threatened by NATO because it has nuclear weapons. As a direct result of Putins invasion of Ukraine he has caused both Finland and Sweden to join and increased the NATO member border with Russia by at least an order of magnitude. Those borders are largely still undefended by Russia, thus showing they have no real concerns about NATO. Very smart move by Putin eh?

Regardless, Ukraine is an independent democratic country and has every right to make any alliance it chooses. You should also realise that Russia is a terrorist state condemned by almost every member of the UN. Are the leaders of these countries all "paranoid"?

NATO is still sidestepping membership because this way they can use Ukraine as their proxy to fight Russia without triggering an all out hot war on their own countries for now. If Poland, Romania and Hungary re-absorb west Ukraine in the upcoming peace deal then Ukraine will be in NATO by default. Nuland and the Americans really wanted Crimea as a NATO base to hem in Russia from the south but they will substitute Odessa, the Question is will Russia leave Odessa to NATO, I don't think so given the sea drone menace. Once Ukraine falls if the attacks on Russia continue then it is ww3.....
