The common dominator leading into this war was perceived National Security by both sides , IMO,
with the treatment of Russian speakers in Donbas as a secondary issue.
The big question is: to what extent can a country bolster its National Security
if by doing so threatens the National security of a neighbour ?
We have seen an Indonesia & Malaysia's hostile reaction to AUKUS and that's a "long bow"
in comparison to others. And if AUKUS ever materialises it will be at least mid 2040s
before we see the first AUKUS Nuke Sub .

sphere's of influence and the power to project it is a valid currency.
While we may be hoodwinked into thinking that these AUKUS subs wont be Nuke Armed,
others in the region see it differently, IMO...hence the objection to them.
