A Russian Orthodox priest who presided over the memorial service for late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny last month has been suspended, according to a church statement.
The Moscow Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church did not give a reason for the punishment, which forbids Dmitry Safronov from giving blessings, bearing the church's cross or wearing the frock until 2027.
