"Russia would win this but 2 years ago we were the rationalists and knew that Ukraine had no chance"

I'll try to paraphrase it.

Putin invades Ukraine, Ukraine, according to you has no chance, but here we are MORE THAN 2 years later and Putin has not accomplished a single objective but Putin will win.

Did I get it right? Can you help me make your sentence make sense?
