most wars fought since ,(also oincluding) ,ww2 have NOT ended by negotiation ...... judging by the difference in positions that does seem the most likely here either
I can think of a dozen wars that ended with a result without trying , the Korean war is the only one comnes to mind as negotiated settlement .
