"coup plotters" is a strange way to describe ordinary protesters.

The simple thing that blows your pro Kremlin narrative away is your timeline. Yanukovych had already abandoned the presidency and fled Ukraine by the time talk of charges were raised. So your theory does not hold water sorry.

Yanukovych was well protected by the security services and was never under any serious threat despite 3 months of protests, so no, "wanting to kill him" simply doesn't stack up to the reality of how events unfolded during Maidan.

Yanukovych's decision to allow police to murder almost 100 protesters on a single day could be claimed as the final nail in the coffin of poor decisions by Yanukovych.

Yanukovych made a series of poor decisions, he knew he had no future in Ukraine, he planned an exit, executed that exit. He had no intention of remaining president. Fact. No amount of distraction about technicalities of this or that can change this fundamental fact that makes this situation NOT A COUP.
