Where should Ukraine station their forces when they are being attacked by Russia? In someone else's country? No matter where Ukraine put their forces there will be Ukrainian civilians around because they are in Ukraine.

Quite different to the deliberate war crimes by Putin's regime, the more than 1000 hospitals bombed, civilians apartments bombed, shopping centres bombed, train stations full of refugees bombed. Anyone from the West who supports Putin's rape, murder and genocide campaign in Ukraine should, as you say, be ashamed of themselves.
There is a reson why 4 from Putin's regime, including Putin himself are wanted war criminals.
