Kievan Rus, founded approximately 882, considered the birth of the Ukrainian identity, culture, and nation, came a long long time before the Soviet Union which was founded in 1922.
Moscow itself didn't even exist until another 250 years later.
But sure, feel free to explain to us why Putin is entitled to rule Ukraine.
