The CIA didn't make Yanukovych abandon the EU association agreement No he got what he thought was an even better deal from Russia - maybe he would have lost the next election if he was unpopular! The US could not allow that election to proceed in an orderly way and risk a uniting president with closer ties to Russia dashing their plans and NGOs and CIA trained the opposition groups to rachet up protests recruiting and training hard right militants to cause trouble at the peaceful political protest.
