IMO you dont understand what the process of negotiations is.

You are looking at the end result...not the process which
is the negotiations.

We know already what both sides want and those objectives are
evidently in conflict....hence the war.

The purpose of a ceasefire /negotiations is to find an acceptable compromise
and that wont be known until the end of negations....not up front .

At present what the Ukraine wants is the complete withdrawal
of Russian troops out of all pre 2013 Ukrainian territory and
even blind Freddy can see that that wont happen...at least not soon
and, more probable than not ,Russia will conquest more Ukrainian territory
as time passes which will likely put the Ukraine in a weaker position to negotiate.

That said, IMO, the Ukrainian leadership is not in a position to negotiate; that'll
be the US' call under the guise of NATO.
