I think Boris just doesn't want to be blamed for this, as he played a pivotal role in terminating a tentative peace deal between Ukraine and Russia.
Ukraine being a "Neutral" country was Not a threat to Russia, but Ukraine being in Nato and having its missiles on its borders, was an existential threat to Russia.
And the Russian have conveyed this to Nato many times, and was ignored.
Nonetheless, the issue is where do we go from here: escalation into WW3 or a ceasefire along the line of North and South Korea?
Who knows, I can only hope its not WW3.
