I still say that a solution to this is to NOT allow Ukraine to join NATO but to have an iron clad guarantee that western countries will come to Ukraine's defense if attacked. That way Ukraine will remain as a "buffer" zone between Russia & NATO.

Does that not appease people? In all seriousness, what flaws are there in that idea?
I guess one issue is as we saw in the so called DPR & LPR. Russia was saying "It's not us, it's not us it's the people's will to leave Ukraine" and they helped facilitate that. That same lie could just go on and on.

I mean Russia has now created an even larger border with NATO thanks to PooTin with Finland joining NATO which wasn't the case before all this started.

Just an idea to throw out there for debate. Personally I wouldn't care if Ukraine DID join NATO as like all NATO countries, they do it for their own collective defense.
