You are either suggesting the Ukraine population in the east didn't take up arms against Nationalist forces or that those Oblasts are actually part of Russia and not Ukraine for this to not be a civil war.

I say it was the former with Donbas population fightng nationalist forces and these separatists were initially armed from local supply depots and then with money and logistics support from Russia, understandable given the Nationalists would hardly be going to resupply their enemy.
