Lets fix what you saids "That's what you hear from USA/NATO propaganda BS". Gorbachev, Yeltsin, and Putin all asked to join NATO and were refused. Why? Because in order to exist NATO needs an enemy and territory in which to expand. I dont know much about the Chechen war, but from recollection Chechnya was part of Russia when that war erupted - If you condemn Russia for that then start with condemning the USA for forcing the confederacy back into the USA Union (ahh let me guess, you have forgotten history when it suits you).

The Georgian Ukraine 2012-2014 uprisings against the democratically elected governments were deliberately orchestrated by the USA/NATO who knew that the continued expansion towards Russia would provoke the war. And how shameless these Neocon/NATO hypocrites are. When a million people marched in the capital of Ukraine to topple the democratically elected Govt chosen by 40 Million people, Victoria Nuland and the rest of the hypocritical West called that democracy. But when a million people march on Washington on 6 January to topple the new administration they believed stole the election (and it doesn't matter whether they were right or wrong about that) America told us that that was treason. You see why we don't trust your bleating about poor innocent misunderstood America/NATO.

As for Russia joining NATO, that opportunity has been lost to the West and instead, they have driven Russia into the arms of China. Most all commentators understand that the USA has been severely weakened by that foreign policy blunder; dollarization being the first consequence of that mistake. The USA/NATO brought it on themselves. The days of USA hegemony are over and the multipolar world is coming, which is why America is desperately provoking WW3 because it would rather see the world annihilated than not be the World's top bully anymore.
