It's a war of attrition to demilitarize Ukraine not territorial conquest right now.

Ukraine are struggling to recruit enough people and build adequate defences. It appears the Russian strength is increasing and they have the momentum with slow steady advances across a very wide front as they stretch Ukraine's increasingly limited forces.

Russia seems to have the superior ability to recruit people and build and obtain weapons and munitions at this stage fortifying their defences better than Ukraine too.
