If a tactial nuke is used by Putin the response will be a non-nuclear rain of missiles on every Putinist military asset ..... some of which ..... like Putin's surface navy are a tad difficult to hide.

Putin then gets to chose the next move.

My understanding is that Xi is very unlikely to use tactical nukes in Taiwan lest the fractures in the PRC become canyons.

Putinists are likely going to attempt to draw the US into some form of embarrasing action or response prior to the US election. Communication cables, energy lines ... things like that maybe on Putin's list.

Putin would view the election of Trump as absolutely critical to personal survival. If Putin goes too far base voters could rally around the President. There could be many layers to so what the Putinists do make carefully measured.
