Russia has not been 'hitting Kyiv all this time'.
I have shown you previously that most of their attacks occur on front areas. Kiev has often gone many weeks without any attacks, though they usually occur after some sort of escalation by Ukraine (eg: Kerch Bridge, drone strikes within Russia).
There was a time when Zelensky had to ask Kiev residents to remember there is a war on [due to the relative calm in the capital].
