The bottom line here is that this is an escalation
of the war and one step closer to WW3.

It will be interesting to see how the Doomsday Clock adjusts.

WW3 is not in humanity's interest and even down here
in Aus we would not be immune so the sane and sensible
strategy is to minimise the probability of WW3 and even
Blind Freddy can see that that is via a ceasefire & negotiations

At least that would formally qualify where both sides would settle for.

But if you don't value your life by advocating further escalation of this war
then that's your bag but you should not expect others to risk their lives
for what is a national security threat for both Ukraine & Russia.

IMO Russia is incapable of colonising the Ukraine now that the Ukraine
has emerged from under the mantle of the USSR and Ukrainian home
grown Communism . So the bottom line ought to be save lives now and
win the hearts and minds later . IMO there is just as big a chance of
Russia becoming a Democratic-Market economy as there is of the Ukraine.
    At the break up of the USSR the evolution of both countries were similar;
semi-autocratic regimes with the SOEs distributed to their respective
    Oligarks with democratic window-dressing !

Perhaps the good thing to come out of this war may be that Russians
have their own Coloured Revolution based on that of the Ukraine?
As such it would indicate that western ideology is better than the
    current Russian "Gig"
