well szaba and I had this conversation today already I am in favour of talking .....but only if putin removes preconditions making demands are not a starting point and they are NOT negotiations realisticaly .....the two sides are miles apart in what either would accept and it just isn't realistic at present then there is the fear of putin coming back for another bite .....a signature from putin will not be a sufficient assurance putin has said many times "peace will come when we have acheied our objectives" or similar .....he is still trying to dictate .....if negotiations are to happen that attitude has to go . Niether side is desperate ...yet .

I think that recognition of reality on the battlefield is a good starting point. Anything can be negotiated from there - potentially certain territory ceded in return for other comprimise. Are you saying Ukraine has no preconditions for talks to begin?
