There's an easy way to stop it. America needs to accept that the geopolitical gambit it started in 2008, then graduated to the coup it orchestrated in Ukraine in 2014 has failed. It has lost. And it lost for good reason. No way in the world would America accept the encirclement it was trying to force on Russia. We can be sure of that because in 1962 America told Russia if they don't move their missiles from Cuba America will invade and will remove them itself. No ifs, no buts. No lies were told by America then about Cuba's "sovereign right" to host whatever hostile weapons it chose within its borders. But since 2008 America has refused to see this problem as a problem of its own making. Instead, it interpreted Putin's delay in taking military action for 16 years as appeasement and weakness. Well now Putin means business. It took him 16 years until he had no other choice (You know how long it took JFK to decide to go to war if the Russians didn't move? within 2-3 hours).

Now let's be practical. There are many prominent US citizens screaming about America deliberately provoking this war and urging America to back off and stop escalating at every step of the way. We need to join our voices with their voices so that the death grip that the neocons have over power in the USA is broken. And the very last thing we should be saying is, "hey these "little nukes" well you know they wont be so bad. FFS!

America went from promising to only supply helmets and uniforms. Since then its sent in increasingly more lethal weapons, now its missiles that can reach deep into Russia, F-16 fighters and now you want us to believe that will all stop after someone shoots a little (but not big) nuke. Honestly!

That's easy for you to say, sitting on this island on the Great Southern Ocean as you are, to be aloof from any consequences. I doubt Europeans generally are as sanguine.
