Are we talking Putin or Stalin? I'm not contesting 1940-1990 Soviet misery beyond saying Britain and America aligned with Stalin in WW2.

Putin is a dictator, I never doubted he would hesitate in defending his interests. That's not a world I like, but he is no worse than America and the psychopaths running that administration. So, define the period of history you wish to discuss that relates to Putin. Remember the discussion was Putin, not the old Soviet Union otherwise it becomes the evil "whataboutery".
