    Yes the German army was thinning out due to 80% of them tied up in the invasion of the USSR where they got methodically decimated by the soviet army and the soviet inspired uprising of communist partisans across Eastern Europe and occupied Ukraine.
    The entire civilized world owes a massive debt to the victory of the red army over the Nazi's only 80 years ago.

    ps. Russia is a capitalist country now though, so that is why they're not doing so well lately , but it certainly and absolutely is not an imperialist country.
    It is a small economy based on commodities like a semi colonial country, not imperialist like the US and Germany.
