Mate, I don't know whether you are Aussie or not, but from an Aussie perspective
(ie one of self interest) there is a risk of this war escalating into a direct NATO/Russian fiasco
which could involve tactical Nukes or even big Berthas.
Such a spectre is not in Australian's interests except perhaps those with lemming instincts.
Its not our war and of course if the Ukraine joins the EC , that will preclude us from trading
with the Ukraine due to prohibitive EU imports' tariffs.
This is why, from a self-interest perspective, that this war is settled ASAP and if the Ukraine
has to be divided , then so be it.........better a divided Ukraine than a Nuked world including Aus!
Its interesting that political populists (RW Toolies & grunt labourers/Trump advocates)
are all against this war and in particular scudding home economies to finance it,
while the Left Wing Populists have merged with small l liberals to support it
Im visiting Europe at present and this drama is playing out electoraly in France and the UK
at present to be followed later by Germany and of course the Italian RW Government
led by Ms Meloni doesn't know whether its Arthur or Marta.
Yesterday's Presidential debate between Trump & Biden looked like a graveyard
for Biden portraying him a a bumbling geriatric and lets face it, the new Uncle Sam
will call the shots in this war post mid January '25.

Really good post. Only completely disconnected from reality people or those ones who have lost the will/reason to live can openly hope for a real possibility of a massive world wide catastrophe. Not sure which category Andy falls in.
