In reality he's not even that popular anymore. Which is why they cancelled elections in Ukraine. And which is why there are no independent popularity polls in Ukraine. Well, there's not much of anything that's independent in Ukraine these days. It's all state controlled. Which in turn is controlled by a collaboration of various US/EU intelligence services and other three letter organisations.

Z isn't controlling anything. He can hardly control his nostrils. He's a talking coke snorting head.
Despite all the efforts of all the mass media trying to convince the world that he isn't. He does what he's told. He makez Z-ero decisions.

If you did some reading/watching on Operation Gladio, you would know, that NATO is not a defence-centred organisation by any means.

One of the purposes of NATO+CIA-run Operation Gladio back in the day, was to convince the world that communism is bad. Their main tools were - kidnapping, torture, murder, terrorism (mass shootings and bombings). Plenty of false flags. To make it look like the commies did it. They started it. They blew something up. They shot up a few supermarkets. They sniped into a crowd of protesters. And so on and so forth. Unprovoked of course)) Dirty commies.
But in reality, the commies were nowhere near as vicious as those that tried to smear them.

As far as Ukraine goes, US intelligence services had their hooks in Ukraine since the days of OSS. Which transitioned into CIA in 1947. Which is round about the time US started developing it's relationship with Ukrainian nationalists (most of whom in those days were straight out nazi-collaborators), to help them fight the Soviets. On Soviet soil.

Employing organised crime, fascists and nazis is a practice that US systematically engaged in in the decades following WW2.

Later, US discovered a more universal, multi-purpose tool they could use to promote their geopolitical interests. That tool is called "radical islamism". Thats a whole another topic, but you can probably see what I'm getting at here.
