That would be incredibly simple !
Biden an Blinken could set up a zoom meeting with Putin and Lavrov and discuss their mutual concerns.
They could try to find area's of agreement and attempt to negotiate solutions.
The Russians has been trying to set up a meeting for months to discuss security concerns re NATO and Ukraine but Stoltenberg, Biden and Blinken just arrogantly dismiss the very idea of even considering and negotiating Putins concerns.

During the Cuban missile crisis (1962) when the US threatened a nuclear war Kennedy and Khrushchev were in constant communication.
One wonders why Putin wants discussion, but Stoltenberg, Biden and Blinken constantly refuse discussions and just continue to pour military hardware into eastern Europe and Ukraine.

In 1963 John F. Kennedy becomes the first U.S. president to have a direct phone line to the Kremlin in Moscow. The “hotline” was designed to facilitate communication between the president and Soviet premier.

"No one was sure how Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev would respond to the naval blockade and US demands. But the leaders of both superpowers recognized the devastating possibility of a nuclear war and publicly agreed to a deal in which the Soviets would dismantle the weapon sites in exchange for a pledge from the United States not to invade Cuba. In a separate deal, which remained secret for more than twenty-five years, the United States also agreed to remove its nuclear missiles from Turkey."
