IMO a negotiated settlement is more likely than not
so the west (USA) should position the Ukraine is the
strongest position possible in order for the Ukraine
to get the best possible outcome.
That said, if Russia takes out the Port of Odessa, then
that would cripple the Ukraine at the negotiating table.
