"Finland goes from neutral to joining the "safety" of NATO with almost no internal debate or discussion."

I am curios what proper, or sufficient, internal debate and discussion for you looks like when due to Putin's full scale invasion on Ukraine there was a huge change in public opinion in Finland regarding joining Nato followed by debate in parliament and an almost unanimous vote to join (184 to 7). So if that does not represent sufficient internal debate and discussion, what does for you?

"In the context of a MAJOR escalation i.e. Russia under a substantial NATO attack into Russian territory"

What makes you think that after 70+ years of Nato without a single attack on Russia, Nato will suddenly change that? What is the Nato threat, in your opinion, to Russia?

I see Putin;s actions and they say that he sees Nato as no threat. AFTER Finland joined Nato Putin removed 80% of his forces from the Finnish border to waste them in Ukraine, same with Norway, Putin took 80% of those forces stationed on the border of Norway to waste them in Ukraine. That is completely counter intuitive course of action if Nato really were any "threat". It really means that Putin knows there is zero threat from a Nato invasion that allows him to remove 80% of his forces from his borders with Nato.

It is not surprising to see reality completely contradict Kremlin rhetoric.

But feel free to explain to me why Nato is a "threat" to Russia or why you think Nato would invade Russia?
