America sent 31 M1A2 Abrams to Ukraine. Here are the Pros and Cons

    Advantages:-

It has a great German-designed 120mm main gun.-
It has very heavy armor packages on the front of the hull and turret.-
It has many US military fanboys uncritically singing its praises.

    Disadvantages:-

    It’s too expensive. -
    It’s too heavy.-
    It’s too large. -
It doesn’t perform well on soft soil or in mud. -
    t can’t ford. -
Its GT engine breaks down a lot (see article from Forbes Mag)
It has a HUGE vulnerability because it stores all its ammo in the turret bustle and then connects that ammo to the inside of the turret with a blast door. That means any decent anti-tank round (KE, CE, etc.) up the rear results in a destroyed tank.

Ask the Houthis in Yemen—they can tell you what a POS the tank is. LOL

    What Forbes Magazine says

Dirt in engine filters is the biggestproblem of Abrams M1 tanks in Ukraine

The biggest problem of theAmerican M1 Abrams tanks in Ukraine is the filters in the intake holesof the engines. They prevent contamination and destruction of the engine andrequire regular thorough cleaning.

If the tank filters are notcleaned every 12 hours, the publication writes, it can damage the engine somuch that it will have to be removed and, probably, the transmission, and thecar sent to Poland for a long overhaul.

Twice a day, the M1 crew must revtheir tankʼs engine to high RPMs per minute to trigger a pulse-jet system thatejects air from the tank, along with dust and debris from the rear grill.

"All these things can betaught to the crew, but if they ever make a mistake — and they will — it willdestroy a million-dollar engine that cannot be repaired in the field,"retired US Army General Mark Hertling told The Kyiv Independent.

In addition, 68-ton tanks requirea lot of fuel. US Deputy Defense Secretary Laura Cooper called Abrams a"gasoline guzzler." It travels only about a kilometer on almost 4liters of fuel.
