Baltic states to leave joint power grid with Russia and Belarus
The power grid operators of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have signed an agreement to decouple from the Soviet-era joint BRELL power grid with Russia and Belarus from February next year.
"We are leaving BRELL... In February, the Baltics will jointly test isolated work (of power grids) and decouple," Lithuanian Energy Minister Dainius Kreivys said.

Malfunction shuts down units at Russian nuclear plant
One of four power units at the Rostov nuclear plant in southern Russia has been shut down due to a malfunction, the Russian energy ministry said.
"The reasons are being investigated, the radiation background is normal," a Rosatom representative told Reuters.
The ministry said temporary restrictions had been imposed on power usage in the south of the country because of the incident.
