@dolcevita - I have listened to interviews of people who are sheltering in Kiev - this morning on Radio National - well spoken educated people - one a Member of the Ukrainian Parliament, the other a journalist - and in the background you could hear the sounds of rockets, explosions etc.
the women's voices were crisp and clear but full of fear and stress - it was palpable.

Putin has gone mad and he has miscalculated his chances on so many fronts.
We now how far a madman has gone before - I hope he is stopped by his own people.

We, as a country, will be taking a lot of Ukrainian refugees - good people with skills, from a similar culture and religion to ours - we should open our doors, if it comes to that!!

Serious times for all of us - and here in Australia we have yet again the spectacle of being unprepared for a flood and government intervention too late and useless. I will find out if I can donate some coin for the people of Gympie!
