1. It's a war of attrition and Ukraine is losing a far greater proportion of its fighters than Russia. Both would achieve an effective "stop loss" if Ukraine agreed to Russia's terms.

2. Ukraine has lost a far greater proportion of its infrastructure than has Russia. Ukraine would lose far less if it agreed to Russia's terms compared to continuing to let Russia destroy more and more, which Russia still has plenty of capacity to do.

Wasting human and economic resources on a lost cause is insane.
