I think maybe one day this battle will happen and then there will be more russian and ukrainian dead near Kharkiv itself in a battle for the city. Peace may prevent that though.

For now i think you are talking about the border salients with relatively small force groupings occupying and fighting on the Ukraine side of the border in some towns previously used to shell Belgorod and calling that the battle of Kharkiv because it is in the same Oblast.
