If China (not Xi) has short term plans of taking Taiwan
out of its One Country/2 Systems regime (it owns Taiwan
now according to the UN( including Aus) since 1972, then
it would first soften it up economically by pulling the pin
on Taiwanese exports to the Mainland . It has not done so,
and therefore it has no plans of doing a Homg Kong on
Taiwan anytime soon .
While China/Hong Kong has reduced imports from Taiwan
since Pelosi's visit Japan & Asian has taken up some of the slack
but not all.
NB: Since the US has enveigled Sun enterprises to Ove half of its
Chip manufacturing to the USA, Taiwanese exports to the USA
has dropped.
To get back to your contention that China has near term plans
to integrate Taiwan with the Mainland is not revealed by the
trade figures (yet) so from my point of view, everything else
is meagre speculation or wishful thinking.(charts don't tell lies..eh?)
