Time for negotiations: Finland calls for participation of the global South and Russia - Le Monde

▪️Finnish President Alexander Stubb said in an interview with Le Monde that the time has come to start negotiations on the Ukrainian conflict. He stressed the importance of the participation of China, countries of the global South and Russia in these negotiations.
▪️Stubb noted that from the very beginning, President Zelensky sought to take the initiative in discussing the resolution of the conflict, but currently the situation is such that “the ball is in Russia’s court,” and this is unlikely to change in the near future.
▪️The President of Finland also indicated that Western countries continue to insist on the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and its annexed regions, but now admit that “this withdrawal cannot be considered as a precondition.”
