Yep would have been easy during the civil war and ww1/ww2 to propagandize the populations but you would think in 2014 with the internet, social media the Ukrainians would have smelled a rat. Then again the internet was probably censored once the US got control, add in martial law and the Azov killing machine as enforcers then once the Ukrainians realized they were mislead dupes there was nothing they could do.
The US military complex and the Corporations running are truly evil, they detest peace and look for every opportunity to have death and destruction on the menu.
