ukrainian government just opened another front, that it needs to feed with weapons and men. if ukrainians want to progress, they need to commit serious resources (something they don't have).

sure, the russians will be forced to pull reserves, their advances in donetsk may slow down.
temporarily. which is the bare minimum objective that ukro's are trying to achieve. buy themselves 1-2-3 months.

but in the end, ukrainians will sustain heavy losses and will be forced to retreat. same as happened with their previous incursions. same as happened with their "great" counter-offensive of 2023. all for nothing.
