Yanukovych started his escape to Russia on the night 21st of Feb.

Had his first attempt denied on the 22nd of Feb.

Rada vote happened AFTER this on the 22nd.

Just because he didn't make it into Russia right away, it does not change the intention.

Yanukovych abandoned the presidency, fled to Russia.

He gave up the presidency.

There was no coup.
