You might be right... sometimes with all the best efforts you cant stop a mindless cancer from growing unfortunately.

Of course my summary is Russian lost as soon as it crossed the Ukraine border in full fledged invasion (not special operation) in 2022 sadly after a long drawn out pre-war since 2014.

    Wikipedia has it about right...

The ongoingRusso-Ukrainian War[c]began in February 2014. Following Ukraine'sRevolution of Dignity, RussiaoccupiedandannexedCrimea from Ukraine and supportedpro-Russian separatistsfighting the Ukrainian military in theDonbas War. These first eight years of conflict also includednaval incidentsandcyberwarfare. In February 2022, Russia launched afull-scale invasion of Ukraineand beganoccupyingmore of the country, starting the biggest conflict in Europe sinceWorld War II.

There was little upside for Russia, even if it had won the blitzkrieg attempt initially and driven into kyiv (you cant spell this?) .

Lead to isolation and cold war return, NATO expansion and funding, international isolation by a fair chunk of the world, internal media restrictions, more draconian crackdowns on liberties and freedoms within Russia, elimination of opposition via jailing or death. A further shift to the right and fascism. The same outocme no matter.

The only hope for Russia is a peoples "revolution", failure of the war is potential trigger, happened before many times.... that might be a worthwhile outcome of this crazy Putism,
