as I say POOSIBLE .....but putin knows it will bring him a lot more trouble - likely not enabling a win but ensuring stronger support from Ukraines allies as well as nations sitting on the fence and even some of his present allies
a precedent that could not be allowed to succeed or it would be repeated

if he annoys China too much , game over for russia economically and I'm sure Xi doesn't want to see nukes used

we can't predict reactions with certainty .....neither can putin ....but we do know there'll be strong reactions by many countries if russia were foolish enough to ramp this war up again

further ....as time goes on and putins failures become clear at home he increasingly in danger of someone growing a pair and organising an alliance - FSB+ oligarchs sick of losing money to replace him
the war has not been in russias interest to continue for a long time .....only for putins political interrest
