The Kursk offensive has worsened the already difficult situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbas, reports The Wall Street Journal after speaking with soldiers.

According to the publication, Ukraine has "redistributed forces from the eastern front," leading to a significant dispersion of troops.

"We don't have enough personnel to properly carry out our duties," said the commander of the 21st Battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who was near Krasnohorivka last week.

He noted that mobilized troops are only replacing about 20% of the battalion's losses. Additionally, the soldiers are extremely fatigued.

Ukrainian commanders on other fronts are also complaining about a shortage of artillery ammunition and personnel.

"If we need five or six people at a position, we have only two or three," said a major in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who has been in the Chasiv Yar area for the past two months.

He mentioned that due to the lack of personnel, rear support staff are being sent to the trenches.

Earlier, military personnel from the Pokrovsk direction also told Politico that their situation had deteriorated following the start of the Kursk operation.
