"IMO this war will be settled by negotiation; not on the battlefield
because the current state of play is not likely to fundamentally
change.....just more senseless killings and property demolition
and besides Russia shares a border with the Ukraine."

Let's hope so sooner rather than later. If not then given Ukraine is a much smaller nation than Russia in numbers and military power then the war will be settled on the battlefield eventually. If the war continues then Ukraine will run out of fighters well before Russia does. In that scenario, the war has to end on the battlefield, unless the West/NATO injects their armed forces, which is very unlikely.
