Well, if you mean daily Russian casualties, then I'll concede to you Putin most definitely escalated those over time.
As for his war fighting capability, a stalemate in Ukraine, 600k+ Russian casualties, not a single objective accomplished on day 910 of his 3 day war while losing thousands of square kms of Russian territory really highlights again reality versus what you say that Putin is "holding back"
