Ukrainian forces have targeted some of Russia's most remote air bases in mass drone strikes over the past two days, including the Marynivka military airfield in the southwestern Volgograd region overnight on Wednesday.
Hours after a Ukrainian drone attack targeted the Olenya air base in Russia's Murmansk region—located some 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles) from the Ukraine border—multiple explosions were reported at Marynivka, a Russian Aerospace Forces air base in the village of Oktyabrsky in the Kalachevsky district.
Regional governor Andrei Bocharov confirmed the attack, saying a fire had broken out at a Russian defense ministry facility.
